There are number of reasons for extracting a tooth. Perhaps your child has a baby tooth which is misshapen or has long roots which prevent it from falling out properly. Maybe you have a tooth with so much decay it is putting your surrounding teeth and jaw at risk. No matter the reason, Dr. Caldwell and our team will work to safely extract your tooth and restore your oral health. After the tooth is removed, we will discuss with you the appropriate tooth replacement options. This includes dental bridges or implants.

Dental fillings are a way to restore a tooth to normal function after decay has been removed. Traditional fillings are made out of silver amalgam, which provides a strong, durable surface which can withstand the extreme forces that results from chewing. Another filling option is composite material, which provides the patient with a virtually undetectable restoration. The composite material is carefully matched to fit the tooth’s natural coloring and structure.

Dr. Caldwell and our team will work with you to determine which filling type best fits your oral health needs. Both types are considered safe and highly effective restoration options.

Root Canals

A root canal, also known as endodontic therapy, is necessary when a cavity reaches the pulp of a tooth. This procedure may also be necessary if you have experienced severe trauma to a tooth. This procedure consists of removing the infected pulp and then cleaning out and disinfecting the interior of the tooth. The canals of the tooth are sealed to help prevent future bacterial infections. At the end of the root canal, the tooth is restored with a crown or filling, which adds strength and stability to the tooth structure. This restores the tooth to normal function.

This restoration option is used for a tooth or teeth severely damaged or in an advanced stage of tooth decay. Like fillings, bridges, or dental implants, a dental crown helps restore strength, aesthetics, and function to your smile. A dental crown can be made from several materials and covers the remaining tooth structure. The material used for the crown depends on the area of the mouth being restored.

A dental bridge is used to replace missing teeth, alleviate stress on your bite, and prevent teeth from shifting, which can cause discomfort. This device “bridges” the gap where one or more teeth had been and is permanently cemented to adjacent teeth. A bridge may be utilized if you are missing teeth due to decay, gum disease, or injury

Dentures are a good option for patients who want to restore a natural looking, healthy smile after losing all or most of their teeth. Partial dentures are used for patients who retain some of their natural teeth, while complete dentures are for individuals who are missing all of their teeth. There are many benefits to dentures: they restore function, health, and beauty to a patient’s smile. In addition, they are custom-made to fit comfortably and snugly within the mouth, which restores your ability to eat and speak. Finally, properly placed dentures help prevent facial sagging.

Scaling and Root Planing

Gum disease can cause irreversible damage to your mouth, and because it is virtually pain-free, the signs may go unnoticed. Periodontal disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults. To help treat gum disease before it becomes a severe problem, we provide soft tissue management treatments such as scaling and root planing. Both of these are effective, non-surgical ways to treat periodontal disease.

Scaling is the process of removing tartar from the surface of the teeth, while root planing is the process of smoothing out root surfaces and removing infected tooth structures. Our soft tissue management services are designed help reduce the need for periodontal surgery.

Looking to brighten and straighten your smile? Orthodontic treatments can help you bring your dreams for your smile to life. During your orthodontic consultation, we will evaluate your oral health, ask about your desires for your teeth, and help you determine the best treatment plan to fit your needs and situation.

Pediatric Dentistry

A lot of our focus is on treating younger patients and helping them establish positive, healthy associations with the dentist. We know it is essential to make their visits fun and educational, so we work hard to start them on the right path to lifelong oral health. We are here to help your child learn to make healthy decisions and the right ways to care for their teeth and gums.

Kids are given colored balloons, bracelets, stickers, and toothbrushes as part of their appointment, which ensures they view visits to the dentist as a good thing!

Sedation Dentistry

We offer sedation options for patients who would prefer to sleep during their procedure. We understand that some people have had negative experiences in the past and may experience dental anxiety. We’d like to help you get through those fears by listening to you, providing reassurance and support, and allowing treatment to proceed at a pace you are comfortable with.
